Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Academic PE department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Core PE programme and related qualifications.
  • Deliver and coach across core sports, contributing to a dynamic games culture.
  • Support the progression of students in GCSE PE, BTEC Sport, and Higher Sports Leadership qualifications.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote a holistic approach to student development.
  • Ensure the PE programme aligns with the school’s educational mission and values.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance and programme outcomes.
  • Represent the PE department at school events and external partnerships.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a PE department within a school setting.
  • Strong academic background in PE or related subject areas.
  • Experience in delivering GCSE PE, BTEC Sport, and Higher Sports Leadership qualifications.
  • Excellent coaching and teaching skills across a range of core sports.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading innovative PE programmes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in working within a co-educational and boarding school environment.
  • Ability to contribute to a vibrant games culture and extracurricular activities.
