The Opportunity:

As the Head of Religious Studies, you will lead and develop the Theology, Ethics, and Philosophy department, ensuring it delivers the highest standards of education. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, and develop the Theology, Ethics, and Philosophy department to ensure academic excellence.
• Design and deliver a high-quality curriculum aligned with examination specifications.
• Support students across all ability levels, fostering engagement both in and beyond the classroom.
• Deliver at least one other Humanities subject or EPQ, contributing to a broad and balanced education.
• Collaborate closely with the resident Chaplain and other department members to share best practices and ideas.
• Play a key role in co-curricular activities, including boarding, tutoring, sports, and extracurricular programs.
• Promote a collegiate culture that values innovation, inclusivity, and student well-being.
• Ensure the department maintains a strong academic and pastoral focus, with a commitment to student success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• A strong academic background in Theology and Philosophy, with relevant teaching qualifications.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a department, with a track record of raising standards.
• Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to deliver high-quality lessons across multiple subjects.
• Experience with examination specifications and assessment strategies.
• Commitment to co-curricular engagement and student pastoral care.

Preferred

• Experience in teaching additional Humanities subjects or leading EPQ programs.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues and students.
• Experience working in an independent or boarding school environment.
• A passion for fostering student engagement and a love for teaching and learning.
