The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and driven Head of Religious Studies to lead a core subject and inspire students through innovative teaching. The role offers the opportunity to shape the future of the department and contribute to the school’s vibrant academic culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Religious Studies department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Deliver inspiring and engaging lessons that motivate students and promote a deep understanding of the subject.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the school’s curriculum and teaching practices.
- Support the development of staff within the department through mentoring and professional development.
- Contribute to the school’s ethos and culture by promoting respect, diversity, and inclusion.
- Work with senior leadership to implement school-wide initiatives and policies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant curriculum and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Religious Studies at the secondary level.
- Strong subject knowledge, including Islam and Christianity.
- Excellent understanding of the Religious Studies curriculum and assessment requirements.
- Proven ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Experience in leading a department and managing a team of staff.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
- Familiarity with data-driven teaching and learning strategies.
- Experience with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and staff training.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Experience in a multi-cultural and inclusive educational setting.
