The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will support teaching during the absence of assigned teachers, ensuring students remain engaged and on task. You will deliver lessons, manage classroom activities, and contribute to a positive learning environment. This role is ideal for those interested in education and looking to gain experience in a classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students complete assigned work effectively.
  • Deliver lessons using various methods such as PowerPoint, video clips, and group activities.
  • Manage student behaviour and maintain a safe, productive learning environment.
  • Support the implementation of the school’s Behaviour for Learning Policy.
  • Assist in the organisation of group work, discussions, and extracurricular activities such as PE and Drama.
  • Learn and apply school policies and procedures in daily practice.
  • Communicate clearly with students and staff to ensure smooth lesson delivery.
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Confidence in using a laptop and managing a classroom.
  • Experience in managing student behaviour in a classroom setting.

Preferred

  • Graduate with an interest in a career in education.
  • Experience in teaching or supporting learning in a school environment.
  • Familiarity with curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Interest in pursuing teacher training in the future.
