The Opportunity:

As the Head of Sport, you will be responsible for leading and developing the school’s PE, sport, and outdoor activities programme for students of all abilities. This role also includes overseeing the EVC and managing the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme, offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on student engagement and achievement in sport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the PE, sport, and outdoor activities programme for all students.
  • Oversee the role of EVC, ensuring safe and educational visits for students.
  • Manage and develop the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.
  • Encourage and support student participation in regional and national competitions.
  • Coordinate and manage the use of the school’s sports facilities, including the heated sports hall and swimming pool.
  • Work closely with staff and students to enhance the sporting experience and opportunities available.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality PE and sport education across all year groups.
  • Promote a culture of participation, inclusivity, and excellence in sport.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of PE, sport, and outdoor activities.
  • Experience in managing and delivering the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage educational visits and outdoor trips.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to promoting physical education and student well-being.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a sports department within a school.
  • Experience with competitive sports and event organisation.
  • Familiarity with the use of sports facilities and equipment.
  • Knowledge of educational visits and outdoor learning opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-working skills.
