The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Head of Vocational Studies to lead and develop the vocational curriculum, with a focus on construction and related subjects. This role offers the chance to make a real impact on student achievement and support a school that values both staff and student growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the vocational curriculum, with a focus on construction and related subjects
- Develop and deliver high-quality vocational courses aligned with awarding bodies such as City & Guilds, NCFE, and IMI
- Support and mentor teachers within the vocational department
- Ensure compliance with awarding body requirements and processes
- Work closely with the leadership team to improve student outcomes and engagement
- Promote continuous professional development for staff and students
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate vocational learning with broader educational goals
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of vocational programs and make recommendations for improvement
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in subject leadership within a vocational education setting
- Strong knowledge of vocational qualifications and awarding body processes
- Relevant teaching qualification and experience in construction or related subjects
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of teachers
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Preferred
- Experience in delivering vocational qualifications at a senior level
- Familiarity with alternative provision and supporting students with complex needs
- Experience with continuous professional development and staff training
- Strong communication and leadership skills
