The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Vocational Studies to lead and develop the vocational curriculum, with a focus on construction and related subjects. This role offers the chance to make a real impact on student achievement and support a school that values both staff and student growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the vocational curriculum, with a focus on construction and related subjects
  • Develop and deliver high-quality vocational courses aligned with awarding bodies such as City & Guilds, NCFE, and IMI
  • Support and mentor teachers within the vocational department
  • Ensure compliance with awarding body requirements and processes
  • Work closely with the leadership team to improve student outcomes and engagement
  • Promote continuous professional development for staff and students
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate vocational learning with broader educational goals
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of vocational programs and make recommendations for improvement

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in subject leadership within a vocational education setting
  • Strong knowledge of vocational qualifications and awarding body processes
  • Relevant teaching qualification and experience in construction or related subjects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of teachers
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering vocational qualifications at a senior level
  • Familiarity with alternative provision and supporting students with complex needs
  • Experience with continuous professional development and staff training
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
