The Opportunity:

As a Head of Year, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic and personal growth. You will be responsible for ensuring a positive and structured learning environment, while working closely with students, parents, and external agencies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about student welfare and school leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in achieving their personal best through effective pastoral care and academic guidance.
  • Promote excellent attendance, punctuality, and behaviour through consistent implementation of Academy policies.
  • Liaise with parents and carers to address concerns related to attendance, behaviour, and uniform.
  • Coordinate with external agencies to provide targeted support for students’ welfare and progress.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and ensure timely communication with relevant staff.
  • Manage student absences, health issues, and risk assessments with appropriate care and planning.
  • Assist with Academy events, including medicals, vaccinations, and student photographs.
  • Implement strategies to improve attendance and behaviour, including home visits and group interventions.
  • Deliver individual and group meetings with students and families to address concerns and support improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or leadership role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to implement and follow Academy policies and procedures consistently.
  • Experience in managing student records and databases.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering group interventions or individual support sessions.
  • Familiarity with student welfare frameworks and external agency collaboration.
  • Knowledge of attendance management and behaviour support strategies.
