The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to support the Science Faculty in delivering practical lessons and maintaining a safe, compliant laboratory environment. This role is essential in ensuring that students receive a high-quality science education and that all health and safety regulations are strictly followed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and manage laboratory equipment for practical lessons
- Ensure the safe disposal of chemicals and management of ionisation and radioactive materials
- Conduct regular stock takes and manage laboratory inventory
- Retrieve and store equipment as required
- Maintain compliance with COSHH and CLEAPSS regulations
- Support the Faculty Leader in any additional duties as needed
- Promote a safe and healthy working environment for students and staff
- Assist in the development and delivery of science-based practical activities
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Good working knowledge of COSHH and CLEAPSS regulations
- Experience working in an educational establishment
- Commitment to supporting and developing young people
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
- Previous experience in a laboratory or science-related role
- Experience with the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials
- Knowledge of health and safety best practices in an educational setting
- Experience with stock management systems
