The Opportunity:
As a Year 7 Leader, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the academic and personal development of students during their crucial transition from primary to secondary education. You will work closely with senior leaders, tutors, and parents to ensure a smooth and successful journey for students. This role is central to the school’s ongoing commitment to improving student outcomes and strengthening its pastoral care framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the wellbeing and academic progress of all Year 7 students.
- Work closely with senior leaders, tutors, and parents to ensure effective communication and support.
- Implement the school’s vision and values to drive progress towards strategic goals.
- Lead transition activities to support students moving from primary to secondary education.
- Ensure consistency and continuity in pastoral support throughout the academic year.
- Collaborate with the Deputy Year Leader and other pastoral staff to maintain a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Monitor and report on student progress, behaviour, and attendance.
- Support the development of a positive school culture and student engagement in extra-curricular activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- UK Recognised QTS or equivalent.
- Experience in a leadership or pastoral role within a school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
Preferred
- Experience in managing transition processes for Year 7 students.
- Experience with pastoral care and inclusion strategies.
- Knowledge of student wellbeing and behaviour management.
- Experience with professional development and staff training.
