The Opportunity:
As Headteacher, you will lead a dynamic team in delivering a holistic curriculum centered on the needs of students with SEMH and SEND. This is a transformative role that shapes the future of education and the lives of vulnerable children. You will be expected to inspire, lead, and teach, making a meaningful impact within a supportive and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the delivery of a holistic curriculum tailored to the needs of students with SEMH and SEND.
- Lead and manage a team of staff, ensuring high-quality educational and therapeutic outcomes.
- Deliver teaching (0.4 of the timetable), including Maths and/or English to GCSE level, and vocational courses.
- Work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to support student development and well-being.
- Design and implement creative, academically engaging curricula aligned with the school’s therapeutic and educational goals.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment that supports emotional and academic growth.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures, maintaining the highest standards of child protection.
- Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to the strategic direction of the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice.
- Experience working with children with SEMH and SEND, including crisis management and supporting children with adverse childhood experiences.
- Ability to teach Maths and/or English to GCSE level, with experience in delivering vocational courses.
- Experience in designing and delivering creative and academically engaging curricula.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a school or department within a specialist SEMH or SEND setting.
- Experience with therapeutic and attachment-informed approaches in education.
- Knowledge of Functional Skills, BTEC, or ELC course delivery.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with a willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS check.
