Science Phase Leader role with leadership responsibilities in Science, Design Technology, and Food.

The Opportunity:

As a Science Phase Leader, you will lead and inspire a team of teachers and support staff across Science, Design Technology, and Food. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development and teaching practices, while contributing to the school’s vision of educational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the curriculum, teaching, and assessment for Years 7–8, 9–10, or 11.
  • Oversee the performance and professional development of teachers and support staff within your phase.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve teaching and learning outcomes across Science, Design Technology, and Food.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on school-wide quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the delivery of a high-quality, inclusive education that meets the needs of all students.
  • Support the development of extra-curricular opportunities that enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Participate in strategic and operational meetings to contribute to the school’s vision and direction.
  • Uphold the school’s core values of Respect, Kindness, Determination, and Unity in all aspects of leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a specialism in Science.
  • Proven leadership experience, ideally in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development and assessment practices.
  • Experience in managing a team of teachers and support staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusion and student well-being.

Preferred

  • Experience in Design Technology or Food education.
  • Experience with cross-phase leadership.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
  • Experience in leading curriculum innovation and change.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range L6 – L11 (£58,569 - £66,368 per annum).
