The Opportunity:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with complex needs in a dynamic and therapeutic setting. Key Responsibilities:
- Support teachers in the classroom and assist with lesson planning and delivery
- Work with children one-on-one or in small groups to provide individualised support
- Manage classroom resources and maintain a positive learning environment
- Supervise and support children during trips, visits, and social activities
- Engage in therapeutic sessions and help children reflect on difficult experiences
- Deliver curriculum-specific activities, including PE, Performing Arts, Computing, and Humanities
- Assist in the development of the academic and extra-curricular curriculum
- Maintain consistent communication with parents, carers, and other professionals
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children with complex needs, including SEMH and SEND
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a calm and supportive manner
- Commitment to a trauma-informed and child-centred approach to education
- Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt to changing situations
Preferred
- Experience in delivering curriculum subjects such as PE, Performing Arts, Computing, or Humanities
- Previous experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and child development
- Passion for education and a commitment to making a positive impact on children’s lives
