The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated History Teacher to cover a maternity leave period starting in September 2026. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a thriving department and support students in achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and innovative lessons across all key stages.
  • Utilise independent learning strategies to raise attainment and promote student success.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching and learning resources.
  • Promote the relevance and importance of History to students.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance departmental performance.
  • Support student progress through regular assessment and feedback.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the History curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in History.
  • Proven experience in teaching History at key stages 3 and 4.
  • Commitment to raising student achievement and engagement.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take on departmental responsibilities.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching History at A-Level.
  • Knowledge of the EBacc curriculum and its importance in education.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and technology in the classroom.
  • Passion for promoting History and its relevance to students.
