The Opportunity:
As the Hockey Director, you will lead and develop a highly successful and well-established hockey programme, supporting both boys’ and girls’ teams. This is a unique chance to shape the future of hockey at a school with a strong record of success in national and regional competitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver high-quality coaching sessions before school, at lunchtime and after school
- Manage teams and accompany pupils to fixtures, including a full Saturday programme
- Oversee the strategic development of hockey across all age groups
- Contribute to the wider life of the department, including administration and meetings
- Coach an additional summer sport, with cricket experience being desirable
- Work closely with a large and experienced sports team, supported by specialist coaches and excellent facilities
- Promote high levels of participation, performance, and enjoyment of hockey across the school
- Develop and maintain a well-established player pathway for all hockey players
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience of playing or coaching hockey to a high standard
- Enthusiastic teacher or coach with strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage teams and deliver coaching sessions across different age groups
- Commitment to the school’s values of Aspire, Respect, and Collaborate
- Willingness to work across the school day and weekends
Preferred
- Experience with coaching an additional summer sport, particularly cricket
- Background in a school or educational environment
- Strong understanding of youth development and sports coaching
- Experience in programme development and strategic planning
