The Opportunity:

As Head of Design and Technology, you will lead a forward-thinking department and shape the academic journey of students. This role offers the opportunity to inspire and motivate pupils, while contributing to the strategic direction of the department and ensuring high standards in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Design and Technology department, ensuring alignment with the school’s educational goals.
  • Oversee curriculum delivery, teaching, and assessment across all year groups.
  • Support and develop staff through training, mentoring, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment that encourages innovation and creativity.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all Design and Technology activities.
  • Promote the school’s ethos and values through engaging and impactful teaching.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular learning opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within education.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching practices and technologies.
  • Experience with health and safety regulations in a school environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Passion for design and technology with a creative teaching approach.
