The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and inspirational KS1 Class Teacher - Temporary for a 12-month role covering the 2026 - 2027 academic year. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on young learners and contribute to a vibrant school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, creative, and structured learning that inspires pupils to achieve their personal best.
  • Support the development of phonics, early reading, and early writing with secure subject knowledge.
  • Create a stimulating, language-rich classroom environment that fosters independence and early learning.
  • Manage and develop positive, supportive relationships with pupils and contribute to their emotional well-being.
  • Plan and deliver effective early literacy and numeracy teaching strategies.
  • Participate in and contribute to a wide range of extracurricular activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
  • Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and reflective practice in the classroom.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong record of success in teaching and learning during initial teacher training or subsequent teaching experience.
  • Secure subject knowledge across the primary curriculum, with particular strength in phonics, early reading, and early writing.
  • Demonstrable experience of teaching and learning within EYFS and Key Stage 1.
  • Strong understanding of child development and the transition from Early Years to Key Stage 1.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including working with parents and carers.
  • Commitment to fostering a love of learning and pastoral care for all pupils.
