The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with disabilities to reach their full potential. You will work closely with delivery staff and learners to provide individualised support, whether in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or Employability specialisms. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support learners with disabilities in developing their knowledge, skills, and independence.
- Collaborate with teaching and support staff to deliver a structured and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide one-to-one or group support tailored to the needs of learners in either the Positive Behaviour Support or Employability specialism.
- Assist with the delivery of vocational subjects and work experience placements for Employability learners.
- Help learners manage challenges and achieve their personal and educational goals.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of learners at all times, following safeguarding procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with colleagues and families.
- Promote positive behaviour and create a supportive, encouraging atmosphere for learners.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- NAPPI Level 2 or equivalent, or willingness to obtain it within an agreed timeframe.
- Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English, or willingness to obtain them.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to working with learners with disabilities and behaviour support needs.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the needs of individual learners.
Preferred
- Experience in working with learners with disabilities or behaviour support needs.
- Experience in a similar education or care setting.
- Knowledge of teaching strategies and inclusive practices.
- First aid or safeguarding training.
