The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep and safety of our school estate. This role is essential to ensuring that all buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard and meet statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair buildings, equipment, and facilities across the school estate.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and statutory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Premises Manager and wider Premises Team to deliver maintenance tasks efficiently.
- Carry out routine inspections and report any issues promptly.
- Assist with emergency repairs and respond to urgent maintenance requests.
- Support the school during special events, including Parents’ Evenings and Open Evenings.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Follow all procedures and guidelines provided by the school and relevant authorities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant trade such as joinery, plumbing, or electrical work.
- Proven experience in a skilled maintenance or manual role.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication.
Preferred
- Experience working in an educational environment.
- Health and safety qualifications.
- Experience with security systems.
