The Opportunity:
A Music Assistant is needed to support the music department and students across all age groups. This role involves accompanying pupils, assisting with rehearsals, and contributing to a vibrant co-curricular programme. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and skilled musician with a passion for working with young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rehearse and accompany pupils for solo concerts, exams, and assemblies
- Support school productions and musicals throughout the school
- Assist with choir, orchestra, and ensemble rehearsals
- Teach theory and aural classes where appropriate
- Help with individual compositional tasks and theory lessons
- Support stage management in concerts and events
- Assist with concert organisation and publicity for lunchtime performances
- Help manage and organise instruments within the music department
- Support with music arrangements and sourcing of materials
- Attend music department meetings and contribute to departmental planning
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Recent graduate in music or related field
- Advanced keyboard and accompaniment skills
- Experience working with young musicians
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
- Proficient in IT and music-related software
Preferred
- Experience in teaching theory or aural skills
- Experience in stage management or event organisation
- Familiarity with music exams and diplomas
- Experience with school policies, including child protection and data privacy
- Experience in a school or educational setting
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pro-rata salary of £14,505.74 per annum
- Part-time, term-time only position with additional INSET days
