The Opportunity:

A Music Assistant is needed to support the music department and students across all age groups. This role involves accompanying pupils, assisting with rehearsals, and contributing to a vibrant co-curricular programme. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and skilled musician with a passion for working with young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rehearse and accompany pupils for solo concerts, exams, and assemblies
  • Support school productions and musicals throughout the school
  • Assist with choir, orchestra, and ensemble rehearsals
  • Teach theory and aural classes where appropriate
  • Help with individual compositional tasks and theory lessons
  • Support stage management in concerts and events
  • Assist with concert organisation and publicity for lunchtime performances
  • Help manage and organise instruments within the music department
  • Support with music arrangements and sourcing of materials
  • Attend music department meetings and contribute to departmental planning

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Recent graduate in music or related field
  • Advanced keyboard and accompaniment skills
  • Experience working with young musicians
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Proficient in IT and music-related software

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching theory or aural skills
  • Experience in stage management or event organisation
  • Familiarity with music exams and diplomas
  • Experience with school policies, including child protection and data privacy
  • Experience in a school or educational setting

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Pro-rata salary of £14,505.74 per annum
