The Opportunity:

As a Part-Time Chaplain, you will play a key role in supporting the spiritual life of the school community and promoting pastoral care. You will lead worship services, support character development, and work closely with the Chaplaincy team to nurture a culture of reflection and respect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate Christian worship services across multiple school sites and Sherborne Abbey.
  • Support the Chaplaincy team in fostering spiritual and ethical development among students and staff.
  • Collaborate with pastoral teams to enhance the wellbeing and character education of the school community.
  • Deliver pastoral care and guidance to students, staff, and families as required.
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and initiatives that promote the school’s values and mission.
  • Provide pastoral support during key life events and times of need within the community.
  • Promote inclusivity and respect for diverse beliefs and backgrounds in all aspects of work.
  • Work flexibly across term time and on some bank holidays as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Ordained minister within the Church of England.
  • Strong commitment to Christian faith and values.
  • Experience in pastoral care and spiritual leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead worship and deliver engaging sermons or reflections.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an educational setting, ideally within a school chaplaincy team.
  • Familiarity with character development and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Experience with diverse communities and interfaith dialogue.
  • Ability to work flexibly and manage multiple priorities.
