The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a passionate and creative Textiles Teacher to join a thriving Art & Design department. The role involves teaching across Key Stages 3 to A level and contributing to the development of a new AQA Textiles course. This is a chance to shape the future of textiles education and inspire the next generation of designers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Textiles at KS3, GCSE, and A level, following the AQA curriculum.
- Develop and deliver engaging and innovative lessons that foster creativity and technical skills.
- Support students in achieving high academic standards and personal growth.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the new AQA Textiles A level course.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Art & Design department and wider school community.
- Manage and maintain studio spaces and resources for Textile Design.
- Participate in extracurricular activities and events, including gallery exhibitions and school initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A degree in Textiles or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching Textiles at KS3 to A level.
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for textiles, including contemporary practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across the school group.
Preferred
- Experience with AQA GCSE and A level Textiles courses.
- Familiarity with digital design and fabrication techniques.
- Experience in leading extracurricular activities or exhibitions.
- Background in teaching fashion, costume, or sculptural work.
