The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Leader, you will play a vital role in ensuring the emotional and academic wellbeing of students. You will lead in areas such as behaviour management, safeguarding, and attendance, while working closely with families and colleagues to create a positive and supportive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support the pastoral wellbeing of students across all year groups.
  • Implement and monitor behaviour management strategies to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Coordinate safeguarding procedures and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Liaise with parents and carers to support student progress and behaviour.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with families to encourage engagement and support.
  • Oversee attendance records and work with the team to improve student punctuality.
  • Deliver targeted support for students through the pupil premium initiative.
  • Collaborate with other Pastoral Leaders to ensure consistency and effectiveness in pastoral care.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with young people, ideally in a school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures.
  • Experience in behaviour management and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in pastoral leadership or a similar role.
  • ICT skills, including the use of school management systems.
  • Experience in developing and delivering student support programmes.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a flexible approach to challenges.
