The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Permanent Deputy SENDCO to join a dynamic team dedicated to supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and contribute to a school with a strong track record of excellence and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the SENDCO in the development and implementation of the school’s SEND policy and procedures.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure that students receive the necessary support.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching practices.
  • Coordinate assessments, reviews, and interventions for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and school policies related to SEND.
  • Contribute to the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and accessibility across the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Current holder or actively working towards the National Award for Special Educational Needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and policy.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within a school setting.
  • Experience with the National Award for Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training on SEND-related topics.
  • Experience in working with a wide range of students with diverse needs.
