The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Permanent Deputy SENDCO to join a dynamic team dedicated to supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and contribute to a school with a strong track record of excellence and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the SENDCO in the development and implementation of the school’s SEND policy and procedures.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure that students receive the necessary support.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching practices.
- Coordinate assessments, reviews, and interventions for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and school policies related to SEND.
- Contribute to the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and accessibility across the school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs and disabilities.
- Current holder or actively working towards the National Award for Special Educational Needs.
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation and policy.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar role, ideally within a school setting.
- Experience with the National Award for Special Educational Needs.
- Experience in developing and delivering training on SEND-related topics.
- Experience in working with a wide range of students with diverse needs.
