The Opportunity:

A full-time Private Tutor is needed to support a high-achieving student in a rigorous online high school program. The role involves academic mentorship, flexible scheduling, and a long-term commitment to the student's education and personal development. The tutor will play a key role in helping the student balance academics with elite showjumping and other interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum covering mathematics, sciences, humanities, and AP courses.
  • Provide individualized instruction through face-to-face and video formats, focusing on conversation and direct explanation.
  • Support the student in building strong writing and analytical skills, particularly in humanities and essay writing.
  • Help the student manage time effectively, maintain focus, and meet academic deadlines despite a demanding schedule.
  • Prepare the student for standardized tests and university admissions, with an emphasis on top-tier institutions.
  • Adapt to the student’s travel and competition schedule, ensuring academic progress is maintained.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and engaging learning environment that promotes long-term academic and personal growth.
  • Act in loco parentis when required, including staying overnight with the student as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Master's-level writing ability and strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching at the high school level, preferably in an honors or AP curriculum.
  • Proven ability to work with students who have attention deficit and executive functioning challenges.
  • Experience with SAT/ACT preparation and university admissions processes.
  • Strong subject knowledge in mathematics, sciences, and humanities.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons that align with the student’s learning style.

Preferred

  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Experience with homeschooling or full-time tutoring roles.
  • Comfort working with animals, especially horses and dogs.
  • Interest in strategy games, escape rooms, and other recreational activities.
  • Ability to integrate academic learning with real-world experiences and travel opportunities.
