The Opportunity:

As a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, you will support the emotional, social, and psychological development of students within a school that prioritises care, early intervention, and wellbeing. This role is central to promoting a positive and inclusive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality therapeutic support to students through one-to-one counselling and small-group interventions.
  • Provide guidance and support during key transitions such as entry to the school, movement between phases, and post-16 pathways.
  • Design and deliver proactive initiatives, including assemblies, workshops, and parent information sessions.
  • Collaborate with pastoral, safeguarding, and senior leadership teams to contribute to whole-school approaches to mental health.
  • Work within statutory and school-based safeguarding frameworks, ensuring early identification and intervention.
  • Offer specialist guidance to staff on pastoral care and pupil wellbeing.
  • Support the development of a culture of emotional wellbeing and resilience across the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong ethical foundation and understanding of confidential practice in a school-based therapeutic context.
  • Secure knowledge of safeguarding within educational settings.
  • Experience in delivering therapeutic support to students with diverse emotional and psychological needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional practice.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an international school context.
  • Sensitivity to the lived experiences of students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Experience with expatriate student populations.
  • Knowledge of evidence-informed therapeutic practices.
  • Experience in designing and delivering professional development for staff.
