The Opportunity:

As a School Counsellor, you will provide essential support to students and staff, promoting well-being and personal development. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide confidential counselling services to students and staff.
  • Support the emotional and psychological well-being of pupils.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to create a positive learning environment.
  • Deliver individual and group sessions tailored to the needs of students.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and initiatives related to mental health and well-being.
  • Work closely with the Lead Counsellor and Senior Deputy Head to ensure consistent support across the school.
  • Engage in professional development to maintain high standards of practice.
  • Support initiatives across the wider Sherborne Schools Group when required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualification in counselling or a related field.
  • Experience in providing support to young people in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in school counselling or youth work.
  • Familiarity with the UK education system and pastoral care.
  • Knowledge of mental health and well-being support strategies.
  • Experience working within a multi-school environment.
