The Opportunity:
A School Counselor is needed for a maternity cover position in the Primary School, starting as soon as possible. This role focuses on supporting student wellbeing, learning, and development through individual and group counseling, collaboration with families, and contributing to key student support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive counseling services to students in Grades 4–6, focusing on emotional, social, and academic support.
- Collaborate with the Student Support Team, crisis management team, and child protection team to ensure a holistic approach to student care.
- Support the implementation of the whole school transition program for students moving from Primary to Secondary School.
- Offer guidance and support to families, working closely with staff to maintain consistent student support.
- Participate in case consultations and team learning opportunities to enhance professional practice.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of programs that promote student inclusion and wellbeing.
- Maintain detailed records and communicate regularly with relevant stakeholders.
- Support the school’s mission through fostering a culture of international understanding and respect.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Master’s Degree or higher in Counselling or Psychology (pedagogical or clinical).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience working as a Counselor in an international school setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusion.
Preferred
- Good written and verbal communication skills in German.
- Cross-cultural experience and understanding.
- Prior experience with child protection and crisis management procedures.
- Familiarity with the IB Learner Profile and international curriculum standards.
