The Opportunity:

As a School Matron, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and daily needs of boarding students. This part-time position offers the chance to contribute to a nurturing environment while working flexible hours on Saturdays. The role is ideal for someone who is caring, organized, and passionate about student welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Boarding in the day-to-day management of the boarding house.
  • Ensure the welfare, safety, and comfort of students aged 13 to 18.
  • Assist with general housekeeping, cleaning, and laundry duties as required.
  • Maintain a friendly, home-from-home atmosphere for boarding students.
  • Attend training sessions and INSET days as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as required.
  • Provide supervision and support during meal times and recreational activities.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures related to student care and safety.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on Saturdays during term time.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

Preferred

  • Experience in cleaning, laundry, or similar domestic roles.
  • Previous experience in a boarding or residential setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and welfare practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
