The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher (Chemistry Specialism) to join a high-performing department with outstanding student outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to inspire the next generation of scientists and contribute to a vibrant, successful chemistry program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging chemistry lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Support students in achieving outstanding GCSE and A Level results, with a focus on developing practical and theoretical skills.
  • Collaborate with the chemistry department to maintain and enhance the school’s strong academic reputation.
  • Prepare and deliver curriculum content aligned with the Pearson Edexcel and OCR A specifications.
  • Mentor and support students in preparing for the Chemistry Olympiad and other academic challenges.
  • Work closely with the chemistry technician to ensure the safe and effective use of laboratory facilities.
  • Participate in the development of extra-curricular activities and research opportunities, including university partnerships.
  • Provide pastoral and academic guidance to students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in Chemistry or a related science.
  • Proven experience in teaching Chemistry at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging, practical lessons.
  • Experience in preparing students for GCSE and A Level examinations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or contributing to successful chemistry departments.
  • Familiarity with the Pearson Edexcel and OCR A specifications.
  • Experience in preparing students for the Chemistry Olympiad.
  • Experience in working with external partners or universities to enhance student learning.
