The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join a dynamic and forward-thinking science department. This role offers the chance to support science teachers in delivering engaging and high-quality practical lessons. The successful candidate will contribute to a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and resources to support science teaching and learning.
- Assist in the setup, conduct, and cleanup of science experiments and practical lessons.
- Ensure the safe and effective use of all laboratory equipment and chemicals.
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, consumables, and equipment usage.
- Support the science department with administrative tasks and data management.
- Collaborate with science teachers to develop and improve practical teaching resources.
- Promote health and safety standards within the science laboratories.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualifications or experience in a science-related field.
- Experience working in a school or educational setting, preferably in a laboratory or technical role.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Commitment to health and safety standards in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Experience with science curriculum delivery or teaching support.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and chemical safety procedures.
- Experience with inventory management or stock control systems.
- Familiarity with digital tools and software used in education and science settings.
