The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join a dynamic and forward-thinking science department. This role offers the chance to support science teachers in delivering engaging and high-quality practical lessons. The successful candidate will contribute to a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and resources to support science teaching and learning.
  • Assist in the setup, conduct, and cleanup of science experiments and practical lessons.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of all laboratory equipment and chemicals.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock levels, consumables, and equipment usage.
  • Support the science department with administrative tasks and data management.
  • Collaborate with science teachers to develop and improve practical teaching resources.
  • Promote health and safety standards within the science laboratories.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in a science-related field.
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting, preferably in a laboratory or technical role.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience with science curriculum delivery or teaching support.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and chemical safety procedures.
  • Experience with inventory management or stock control systems.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and software used in education and science settings.
