The Opportunity:
A Science Technician is needed to support teaching staff and students in a modern, environmentally friendly science centre. This role is ideal for someone who is practical, well-organised, and enjoys working as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and materials for practical science classes
- Assist in the setup and management of science experiments and demonstrations
- Support teaching staff with the organisation and delivery of science lessons
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-ordered laboratory environment
- Assist with occasional clerical and administrative tasks
- Provide guidance and support to students during practical sessions
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the science centre
- Collaborate with other members of the science department to enhance student learning
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience in a science environment (school, university, or science-based industry)
- Practical skills and knowledge in biology or chemistry
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Commitment to health and safety standards
Preferred
- Experience in a school or college setting
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures
- Experience with science curriculum planning or delivery
- Understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies
