The Opportunity:

As a secondary teacher SEMH, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will design and deliver engaging, person-centred learning that meets the unique needs of each student, helping them to thrive in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver person-centred learning tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH and Autism.
  • Monitor and review student progress, including social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with a multi-professional team to create therapeutic learning environments that promote positive wellbeing.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills through a differentiated curriculum and personalized learning outcomes.
  • Work within a structured, daily program that focuses on academic, emotional, and social development.
  • Encourage and promote effective communication skills as a core part of the learning experience.
  • Contribute to the school’s vision by fostering an inclusive, nurturing, and inspiring educational community.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and support initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in working with students with SEMH and/or Autism.
  • Proven ability to deliver person-centred, therapeutic learning.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and individual learning needs.
  • Experience in developing and implementing student support plans.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching Science or ICT, though other subject specialisms are also welcome.
  • Background in therapeutic approaches and person-centred practice.
  • Experience in outdoor learning or alternative educational settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and contribute to school-wide vision and development.
