The Opportunity:

As a Secondary English Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering the English National Curriculum to students aged 11 to 14. You will inspire a love of language and literature, while supporting students in developing essential academic and life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that support reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.
  • Develop and implement effective assessment strategies, including progress tracking and feedback.
  • Support learners with varying levels of English, including EAL students, through differentiation and scaffolding.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and high-quality teaching experience.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in curriculum development and school-wide initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and the wider school community.
  • Uphold the school’s commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, Education, or a closely related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an internationally recognised teaching qualification appropriate for secondary education.
  • Proven experience teaching English Language and/or English Literature at secondary level.
  • Strong understanding of UK curriculum expectations, including KS3–KS4 English.
  • Ability to deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that support reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with KS5 English curriculum.
  • Experience using assessment for learning and progress tracking.
  • Confidence in supporting learners with varying levels of English, including EAL students.
  • Experience working in a British or international school context.
