Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred teaching to students with autism and complex learning needs.
  • Implement strategies to support students in achieving their EHCP targets and personal goals.
  • Work collaboratively with education, health, and care teams to ensure holistic student support.
  • Promote student well-being, attendance, and progress through inclusive and engaging learning practices.
  • Apply evidence-based approaches to autism support and safeguarding.
  • Support students in developing life skills and preparing for future opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records and report on student progress regularly.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • QTS/NQT or equivalent, or Level 3 Teaching Award.
  • Proven experience in teaching students with autism and complex learning needs.
  • Strong knowledge of current SEN and autism theory, practice, and legal frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and with external agencies.
  • Confident use of IT tools for teaching and administrative tasks.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience with accreditation boards such as ASDAN.
  • Background in delivering the national curriculum to students with complex needs.
  • Experience in developing individualised learning plans.
