Teaching Assistant role at a special school supporting students with complex needs.

Based on a large rural site, the school provides high-quality education for students aged 11 to 19 with complex needs. It focuses on partnership with families, professionals, and external agencies to support student success.
The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs, including those with autism and learning difficulties. You will help pupils achieve their goals, develop life skills, and make progress in their education. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in their learning and help them achieve their EHCP targets.
- Assist in safeguarding and protecting students.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals.
- Help raise attendance, attainment, and achievement.
- Adapt learning strategies to meet individual needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and life skills development.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents and carers.
- Participate in team meetings and staff development sessions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organisational and self-motivation skills.
- Confident use of IT tools in the workplace.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of current SEN and disability theory, particularly related to autism.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection frameworks.
Preferred
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in teaching and learning or equivalent.
- Experience working with students with complex needs.
- Knowledge of inclusive approaches to education and attendance improvement.
