Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, individualised teaching to students with autism, complex learning needs, and communication challenges.
- Implement evidence-based strategies to support learning and behaviour management.
- Work closely with students to help them achieve their EHCP targets and personal development goals.
- Collaborate with other staff, including health and therapy teams, to provide holistic support.
- Promote positive behaviour and safeguard the well-being of all students.
- Raise attendance, attainment, and achievement through targeted interventions.
- Support students in developing life skills and preparing for future opportunities.
- Stay up to date with current SEN theory, practice, and legal frameworks.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, or Level 3 Teaching Award.
- Proven experience in teaching students with autism and complex learning needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with external agencies.
- Confidence in using IT as a teaching and administrative tool.
- In-depth knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Understanding of inclusive education practices and legal frameworks related to SEN.
Preferred
- Experience with accreditation boards such as ASDAN.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and self-improvement.
- Experience in developing and implementing individualised learning plans.
