Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualised teaching to students with autism, complex learning needs, and communication challenges.
  • Implement evidence-based strategies to support learning and behaviour management.
  • Work closely with students to help them achieve their EHCP targets and personal development goals.
  • Collaborate with other staff, including health and therapy teams, to provide holistic support.
  • Promote positive behaviour and safeguard the well-being of all students.
  • Raise attendance, attainment, and achievement through targeted interventions.
  • Support students in developing life skills and preparing for future opportunities.
  • Stay up to date with current SEN theory, practice, and legal frameworks.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, or Level 3 Teaching Award.
  • Proven experience in teaching students with autism and complex learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with external agencies.
  • Confidence in using IT as a teaching and administrative tool.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Understanding of inclusive education practices and legal frameworks related to SEN.

Preferred

  • Experience with accreditation boards such as ASDAN.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and self-improvement.
  • Experience in developing and implementing individualised learning plans.
