The Opportunity:

As SENCO, you will lead and manage the school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision, ensuring all pupils receive the support they need to thrive. You will play a vital role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with additional needs, working closely with staff, parents, and external professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the school’s SEND provision in accordance with statutory requirements and the SEND Code of Practice
  • Identify, assess, and monitor pupils with SEND, including those with EHCPs
  • Coordinate interventions, support plans, and provision mapping to ensure effective support
  • Liaise with parents, staff, local authorities, and external agencies to promote inclusion and support
  • Maintain accurate records, oversee annual reviews, and ensure compliance with statutory obligations
  • Support teachers with strategies to promote inclusive teaching and learning
  • Deliver targeted intervention teaching in English and Mathematics where required
  • Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience of leading or coordinating SEND provision within a school setting
  • Strong knowledge of current SEND legislation, EHCP processes, and effective intervention strategies
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A compassionate, professional, and child-centred approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, pupils, parents, and external professionals
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Preferred

  • Experience delivering literacy and numeracy interventions
  • Ability to teach English
