The Opportunity:

As the SENCo Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision. This is a pivotal position that ensures all students receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally within a school that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic SEN policy and provision across the school.
  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day operations of SEN support for students with special educational needs or disabilities.
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • Establish high expectations for staff and students, setting challenging targets for achievement.
  • Ensure systems and procedures are in place for the consistent progression of all students.
  • Promote engaging and motivating teaching approaches that encourage active student participation.
  • Deliver a programme of professional development and support to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A recognised educational degree, such as a Bachelor's in Education or equivalent qualification.
  • A certified teaching qualification such as a PGCE or QTS with an Early Career Teaching Certificate.
  • Extensive experience teaching the National Curriculum of England.
  • Experience teaching IGCSE, AS/A Level and International Baccalaureate (IB).
  • Strong subject knowledge and experience in special educational needs provision.

Preferred

  • A National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in developing and leading SEN policy and provision.
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills with staff, parents, and external agencies.
