The Opportunity:
As a SEND Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs and ensuring they receive the best possible education. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that promote inclusion and raise the profile of SEND within the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective SEND policies and procedures in line with current legislation and research.
- Identify and support students with special educational needs and their families through targeted interventions and assessments.
- Monitor the progress of SEND students and ensure their needs are met throughout their time at the school.
- Deliver training and support to staff on best practices for teaching and supporting students with SEND and EAL needs.
- Provide one-to-one support, lesson interventions, and study skills sessions to improve learning outcomes.
- Ensure that the school's provision for SEND students is regularly reviewed and updated.
- Collaborate with external agencies and parents to support the holistic development of students.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on SEND provision and student progress.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A comprehensive understanding of special educational needs and disability (SEND) provision.
- Experience in working with students with additional needs and their families.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and implement policies and strategies.
- Commitment to inclusion and raising the profile of SEND within the school.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or supporting students with SEND.
- Knowledge of EAL (English as an Additional Language) support strategies.
- Experience in delivering staff training and professional development.
- Familiarity with current legislation and research in SEND education.
