The Opportunity:
As a SEND Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. You will work closely with the SEND leadership team to ensure statutory processes are followed, records are maintained, and communication with parents and external agencies is clear and professional. This role is essential in maintaining a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the statutory EHCP annual review cycle.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to SEND processes.
- Act as a key point of contact for parents, staff, and external agencies.
- Ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Provide high-level administrative support to the SEND leadership team.
- Manage competing deadlines and maintain a high level of organisation in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate with stakeholders in a sensitive, professional, and empathetic manner.
- Support the development and implementation of SEND policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Previous experience working within a school SEND department or local authority SEND team.
- Solid understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High proficiency in school Management Information Systems (e.g., SIMS, Bromcom) and MS Office/Google Workspace.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar administrative or support role within education.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
- Experience in a large, high-achieving school or academy trust.
- Knowledge of current SEND policy and best practice.
