The Opportunity:
As a SEND Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support they need to thrive. You will work as part of a dedicated team to create an inclusive and empowering learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
- Coordinate support services and collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular updates to the pastoral and SEND team.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive teaching practices and SEND-related policies.
- Attend meetings with parents, students, and professionals to discuss student needs and progress.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to student support and interventions.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and raise awareness of special educational needs across the school.
- Support the school’s vision by ensuring all students have equal opportunities to succeed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or a related field.
- Experience working with students with special educational needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and external agencies.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of SEND policies and procedures.
- Experience with developing and managing individual education plans.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and inclusive teaching strategies.
