The Opportunity:

As a SEND Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support they need to thrive. You will work as part of a dedicated team to create an inclusive and empowering learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Coordinate support services and collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular updates to the pastoral and SEND team.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive teaching practices and SEND-related policies.
  • Attend meetings with parents, students, and professionals to discuss student needs and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to student support and interventions.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and raise awareness of special educational needs across the school.
  • Support the school’s vision by ensuring all students have equal opportunities to succeed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and external agencies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND policies and procedures.
  • Experience with developing and managing individual education plans.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and inclusive teaching strategies.
