The Opportunity:

As a Senior Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Science Faculty by managing resources and ensuring safe, effective practical learning. This is a shared role with another technician, offering flexibility and the chance to contribute to a dynamic and well-resourced school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the technician team to support practical science activities
  • Prepare, maintain, and clear resources in line with health and safety standards
  • Support the Director of Learning: Science in ensuring all practical work meets curriculum requirements
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality science education
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory of science equipment and materials
  • Provide technical support to teachers and students during practical lessons
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of science facilities and resources

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a laboratory or similar setting, preferably in a school environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Commitment to promoting the school’s ethos and values
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures in a science setting

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician in a school
  • Knowledge of science curriculum and practical teaching methods
  • Experience with managing and training junior technicians
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and maintenance procedures
  • Experience with using digital tools for inventory and resource management
