Family Support Worker needed to support pupils with SEMH needs in a dynamic school environment.

The Opportunity:

As a Family Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will work across two schools to help remove barriers to learning and ensure students feel safe, supported, and valued in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils to identify and address barriers to learning and attendance
  • Providing early help and targeted support to children and families
  • Collaborating with school staff and external professionals to ensure coordinated support
  • Identifying safeguarding concerns and following agreed reporting procedures
  • Supporting families to improve outcomes for pupils in and out of school
  • Working flexibly across multiple school sites in Hertfordshire
  • Engaging effectively with parents, carers, and pupils to promote positive outcomes
  • Ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children and families, with the ability to assess and respond to their needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and the ability to act promptly and appropriately
  • A proactive, compassionate, and resilient approach
  • Access to a car and the ability to travel between school sites in Hertfordshire

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Knowledge of SEMH support strategies
  • Experience working with pupils with additional needs
  • Experience in multi-agency collaboration
