The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a key role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with complex communication needs. This is a chance to make a real difference in an education setting that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the education team and multi-disciplinary professionals to support pupil development.
  • Maintain a caseload of pupils, ensuring consistent and high-quality therapeutic support.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Follow the Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working standards to ensure best practice.
  • Develop and implement support plans based on individual pupil needs and assessments.
  • Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Participate in research projects, special interest groups, and training opportunities to enhance professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT.
  • Relevant experience working with individuals with complex communication needs.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience of communicating with families and carers.
  • Good relationship-building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention methods.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
  • Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
