The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering tailored assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodiversity, or SEMH needs. This is a chance to work within a multidisciplinary team and make a meaningful impact on student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Work collaboratively with education teams to support pupils in developing communication skills and independence.
- Maintain a speech and language therapy caseload, supported by a designated clinical supervisor.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
- Follow the Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working standards provided by the school.
- Communicate effectively with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Stay up to date with legislation and professional standards in speech and language therapy.
- Participate in research projects, special interest groups, and training opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Degree or Masters in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT.
- Relevant experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles.
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
- Experience of communicating with families, carers, and professionals.
- Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
- Strong communication (oral and written) and organisational skills.
- Competent in core areas of speech and language therapy practice.
- Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention strategies.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
Preferred
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
- Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
