The Opportunity:
As a Student Counsellor Volunteer, you will support students in a nurturing and inclusive environment. This role offers the chance to contribute to the well-being of 16-19 year olds and gain valuable experience in a supervised counselling placement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support and guidance to students.
- Assist in identifying and addressing the emotional and psychological needs of students.
- Attend and participate in training and supervision sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding policies.
- Collaborate with the Student Welfare Team to ensure a cohesive support network.
- Support students in developing coping strategies and life skills.
- Keep accurate and confidential records of all interactions and sessions.
- Attend weekly meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of the counselling service.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Previous experience in counselling or working with young people.
- Attendance at a theoretical and practical training course in counselling.
- Awareness of the issues and challenges faced by 16-19 year olds.
- Availability for one day per week between 9:00am and 3:00pm.
- Own professional indemnity insurance.
Preferred
- Experience in a sixth form or college setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and welfare policies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to supporting student well-being and personal development.
