Job Description

Summary:

Teaching Assistant role at a school in the New Forest. Support students with SEMH and complex needs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH and complex needs in a dynamic and supportive learning environment. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people while working with a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in the classroom and during learning activities
  • Assist with planning and delivering individualised learning plans
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with complex needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure student progress
  • Monitor and report on student behaviour and progress regularly
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience supporting in a classroom setting
  • Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field
  • Commitment to working with students with SEMH and complex needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing environments

Preferred

  • Experience with students on the autistic spectrum
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
  • Experience in a specialist educational setting
  • Previous experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures
