The Opportunity:

As a Senior Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students and delivering a dynamic curriculum. You will lead by example, mentor junior staff, and contribute to curriculum development with a focus on literacy and communication. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in accessing a broad and engaging curriculum through individualised learning programmes.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to plan and deliver memorable learning experiences.
  • Mentor and coach new Teaching Assistants to help them develop their skills and confidence.
  • Lead and manage a small team of Teaching Assistants with a focus on professional development.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve literacy and communication skills among students.
  • Work flexibly and adaptively to meet the needs of students with complex and diverse requirements.
  • Maintain excellent organisational and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum and teaching practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a special needs setting.
  • Strong commitment to supporting students with autism or complex learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • A passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact on students' lives.

Preferred

  • Experience in mentoring or coaching other Teaching Assistants.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Training or qualifications in special educational needs or autism support.
  • Experience with individualised learning programmes and behaviour management strategies.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices and approaches.
