The Opportunity:
As a Senior Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students and delivering a dynamic curriculum. You will lead by example, mentor junior staff, and contribute to curriculum development with a focus on literacy and communication. Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in accessing a broad and engaging curriculum through individualised learning programmes.
- Collaborate with class teachers to plan and deliver memorable learning experiences.
- Mentor and coach new Teaching Assistants to help them develop their skills and confidence.
- Lead and manage a small team of Teaching Assistants with a focus on professional development.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve literacy and communication skills among students.
- Work flexibly and adaptively to meet the needs of students with complex and diverse requirements.
- Maintain excellent organisational and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum and teaching practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a special needs setting.
- Strong commitment to supporting students with autism or complex learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- A passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact on students' lives.
Preferred
- Experience in mentoring or coaching other Teaching Assistants.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
- Training or qualifications in special educational needs or autism support.
- Experience with individualised learning programmes and behaviour management strategies.
- Familiarity with inclusive education practices and approaches.
