The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Visiting Music Teacher to join a thriving and dynamic Music Department. This role offers the chance to inspire young musicians, teach solo organ repertoire, and contribute to the school’s rich musical tradition. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing students’ skills in performance, technique, and theory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach solo organ repertoire and hymn and choral accompaniment to students of all abilities.
  • Develop students’ skills in improvisation and performance practice.
  • Deliver lessons that integrate aural and theory components as required.
  • Write reports and assessments in line with the school’s schedule.
  • Support major Music Department concerts throughout the school year.
  • Maintain accurate records of lessons taught.
  • Ensure a high standard of teaching and engagement across all pupils.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant experience of public performance as an organist.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach hymn and choral accompaniment.
  • Sound understanding of the Choir School model and experience working with young musicians.
  • Ability to deliver engaging lessons to students of all abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching music theory.
  • Experience with ABRSM and Trinity exam standards.
  • Strong knowledge of performance practice and improvisation.
