The Opportunity:
As an AP U.S. History Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in preparing students for college-level coursework and AP exams. You will guide students through the cultural, economic, political, and social developments that have shaped the United States from c. 1491 to the present, while fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach AP U.S. History to students in Grades 9–12, focusing on critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Prepare students for AP exams through rigorous instruction and comprehensive review.
- Foster meaningful relationships with students to support their academic and personal growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to a positive, collaborative school community.
- Engage students in discussions that promote intellectual curiosity and a deeper understanding of American history.
- Support the school’s mission of academic excellence through high expectations and a commitment to student success.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in U.S. History or a related field.
- At least two years of experience as a lead teacher in a classroom.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to academic rigor and student achievement.
Preferred
- Experience teaching AP European History.
- Demonstrated success in preparing students for AP exams.
- Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.
- Fluency in English and willingness to support a bilingual learning environment.
